About the exhibition

Hi! I'm Vanessa, a self-taught Artist and Writer in Newcastle, Australia.

I write and paint to uplift and inspire sensitive hearts. With a playful, thoughtful process led by curiosity and reflection, I create whimsical, expressive abstract paintings infused with a sense of wonder, hope and freedom.

When I'm immersed in the flow of painting, writing, journaling or enjoying the natural world, it's easy to imagine infinite possibilities. Adventuring in the mountains of the Hunter Valley amongst gumtrees, rivers and rockpools restores my sense of peace, wonder and awe.

My passion as a writer is to encourage people to see themselves through a softer lens so they can flourish and fly. I write for those who are sensitive, creative, thoughtful, neurodivergent and variable-energy. If that sounds nourishing for you, take a moment to breathe and enjoy.

The HeART behind the ART ...

As a heart-centred creative with many interests, I share snippets of my process and personal story on Instagram and Substack. Some call it oversharing, but I prefer to say I'm genuine.

With variable energy due to several chronic illnesses, chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety and late-diagnosed ADHD, I can relate to the frustration of having more dreams than capacity. Instead of hiding my challenges, I share some of what I'm learning and feeling so others experiencing similar feel less alone.

I'm an introvert who prefers to skip the small talk and dive in deeper and create REAL connection. I want to know what inspires you and sparks your imagination and passion!
